On the afternoon of November 24, School of Life Sciences held a seminar on the  top-notch talents cultivation and the online training program of Cambridge University, aiming at the relevant measures and experience exchange of training top-notch talents in first-class disciplines of biology, as well as promoting the process of internationalized personnel training.  Carrying out the fundamental task of establishing morality and cultivating students is to explore a feasible mode of cultivating top-notch talents based on the first-class discipline construction task and the reality of our college . Zhao Haipeng, Vice Dean of the college, Li Zhifang, Director of Talent training and global office, Zhang Dale, Xiao Baolin, Sun Yang, the head teachers of different talent classes, Lin Lingling, from the Graduate research and management office and Ruan Jiuxiao, class teacher of Grade 2020 of Mingde class, attended the meeting, which was chaired by Li Zhifang.

Zhao Haipeng  introduced the progress and importance of the talent cultivation, and briefly introduced the Cambridge University online training program, an international exchange measure during the epidemic. Suggestions was given for the development of the "Excellence Program" related work, pointing out its necessity of fulfilling ideas, liberation of the mind, courage in innovative ideas which could continuously improve the training methods and strategies of the undergraduate excellence program, and attention to some specific training details based on actual conditions as well as improvements, especially for the mutual recognition of domestic internship practice credits, which conveyed the relevant thoughts and suggestions.

Li Zhifang demonstrated the online training program of Cambridge University in detail from the aspects of background to significance, content and even implementation method. The content mainly includes Cambridge Master Public Benefit Interactive Class and biology practical training course, which is expected to start during the winter vacation of 2021 and last for 6 weeks. She pointed out that the project was aimed at developing individualized and international training for students in the Top-Talent Program of our school, developing students' ability advantages, strengthening students' core qualities, and aiming at expanding students' international vision and enhancing their abilities of independent researching and learning. Talent training and global office is responsible for coordinating relevant departments of The University of Cambridge for unified course management and process supervision.

Sun Yang shared the recent progress of the Outstanding Engineer Program. He introduced in detail the four-in-one training mode and specific measures of the Outstanding Engineer Program "ability cultivation + practice exploration + personality cultivation + innovation and entrepreneurship", and shared the work of the four internship bases, campus platforms and 22 enterprise supervisors that have been established.

Zhang Dale and Xiao Baolin also shared their experiences and put forward problems in the implementation of their excellence plans respectively. Before the end of the meeting, the participants made a detailed summary of the current work and had a full exchange of views on the future work.
