Let’s face it… Every kid loves robots. Especially now-a-days! Seems like every student I have wants some kind of robot for Christmas! This project is fun and oh so cute. I love teaching lessons that allow kids’ imaginations to run wild and involve mixed media.
What you need:
- Scraps of construction paper
- 9×12″ sheets of construction paper
- Glue Sticks
- Elmer’s glue bottles
- Skinny Sharpies
- Bins of random objects: Seaquins, buttons, nuts & bolts, beads, whatever you can find!
Let’s get started!
I begin class by building a robot. I sit in my chair with my little students at my feet and I ask, “What shape should I use for a body?…What shape for a head? What are some things robots might have?” I end up adding wheels, tubes, pressure gauges, clocks, buttons whatever the kids suggest! I give everyone a piece of construction paper to build their robot. Then I set them free to create their own. Have fun!
